A trip to the Barrow Hill Roundhouse near Chesterfield for the Type 5 Diesel Gala. Main star of the show was 56101 in her new large logo livery when only months ago she arrived at Barrow Hill from Immingham Depot after years in store, and also 47818 working the shuttle trains up and down the former Springwell Colliery branch with a variety of other locomotives.

A fabulous day at the Kingmoor Depot, Carlisle. Which seen 2 locomotives named:
47790 was renumbered to its original 47593 for the event and was named "Galloway Princess" - A name which the locomotive carried in the early 1980's
37423 was named "Spirit of the Lakes" - a winning name which was selected in a competition that received hundreds of entrants

Another visit to the Long Marston storage site near Stratford-Upon-Avon in Warwickshire. Many of the Class 87's and 86's were still on site (some of which have already gone to pastures new in Bulgaria). Whilst surprises included:

Another excellent all-day charter, this time at the Churnet Valley Railway in Staffordshire and featured 37075 on a breakdown crane formation and 25322 "Tamworth Castle" on a rake of vans for most of the day.

A **FIRST EVER** trip to the Battlefield Railway in Leicestershire for their Spring Diesel Gala which featured a host of traction including 31101, 31130, 33019, 37227, 37905, 47640, 56098 and D5217

**BRIEF HISTORY**
The Battlefield Line is what remains of the former Nuneaton and Ashby Joint Railway from Nuneaton Abbey Junction to Ashby De La Zouche in Leicestershire. The line opened in 1873, passenger traffic didn't live up to expectations and local passenger traffic ceased in April 1931 although the line was still used for freight and occasional long distance and charter traffic. The line was closed by British Rail in 1971 and was kept as a long siding to store condemned rolling stock. The track was finally lifted in 1976

Another top notch night shoot with the East Midlands Railway Photographic Society, this time featuring 37314 "Dalzell" on a rake of ballast hoppers aroung Loughborough Central.
Also in between shoots when the 37 was moved around, I decided to indulge in some atmospheric shots

Odds and sods from November 2008.
Weather has been somewhat varied with sunny and fullus dullus however there have been some (but not many) good workings.
Most notable was 37401 and 37417 working the "Industrious Trader" Railtour around the West Midlands on the 15th November, which I managed to photograph at one of my old stamping grounds of Three Spires Junction (between Coventry and Bedworth).
Also, froth tugs, 60040 and 60059 made a couple of appearances in my area, 60040 working 6V92 Corby - Margam steel empties on the 7th, and later in the month she worked 6M57 Lindsey - Kingsbury loaded tanks
60059 worked 6Z61 Robeston - Bedworth loaded tanks on 14 November, and on the 21 November, she was at the helm of 6M57 Lindsey - Kingsbury loaded tanks
